Instructor

Becky Lee has been a dance educator in the Midlands of SC for over 20 years.  Mentoring the youth of our community through the art of dance has become her life’s work and testimony.  Mrs. Lee has instructed and mentored recreational, competitive, and preprofessional dancers of all ages in many different genres.  She has been on the teaching staff at Columbia Conservatory of Dance, Palmetto Dance Center, Columbia City Jazz, and most recently was the Company Director and Instructor at Academy of Dance Arts for 17 years.  Becky currently teaches at Magnolia Dance Academy in Summerville as their team technique coach in addition to owning and directing Luminous Dance Productions.

As a young dancer, her foray into the performing arts began at the Columbia Conservatory of Dance under the direction of William Starrett.  Later broadening her Ballet studies under the direction of Debra Bricker at Academy of Dance Arts.  As a member of the Columbia City Jazz Company, directed by Dale Lam, she received opportunities to travel abroad performing in Singapore, Germany, Bulgaria, and Austria at the International Tanzsommer Dance Festival and for the European Union.  In addition to studio training, Mrs. Lee has refined her commercial studies under the tutelage of Mia Michaels, Jason Parsons, Ray Leeper, AC Ciulla, Desiree Robbins, Doug Caldwell, and Frank Hatchett.

Becky has performed with Unbound Dance Company, directed by Caroline Lewis Jones, in their captivating shows Les Femmes and Failure to Survive.  She continues to guest teach and choreograph for numerous studios and school districts within the midlands and Southeast.  She hopes to instill in her students the passion, enthusiasm, joy, and love she has for the amazing art that is dance.
